At Locking Stumps Community Primary School, we are committed to providing a safe, happy and nurturing environment where every child can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
The values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs are woven throughout our curriculum, school ethos and daily life. These values are promoted through our school values, positive relationships and the experiences we provide for our children.
At the heart of our curriculum is the belief that every child should be respectful, aspirational and equipped to make a positive contribution to society. We place great importance on children's social, emotional, spiritual and personal development, recognising that happy, confident learners are best placed to achieve success and fulfil their potential.
Our curriculum is underpinned by the principles of Character Education, helping children to develop the personal qualities, attitudes and behaviours they need to succeed both in school and later in life. Through learning opportunities, enrichment activities and everyday experiences, we encourage children to develop resilience, responsibility, confidence, kindness, integrity and independence.
Our curriculum has been shaped by the views of pupils, families, staff and governors and is designed to reflect the needs of our school community. It provides a broad, balanced and ambitious education that develops knowledge, skills and understanding across all subjects, while inspiring curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning.
We aim to make learning meaningful by helping children make connections across their learning. Where appropriate, subjects are carefully linked through engaging topics, often driven by PSHE, History, Geography, Science and high-quality literature, creating rich and memorable learning experiences.
Through our curriculum and wider opportunities, we seek to develop confident, compassionate and responsible young people who embody British Values, demonstrate strong character and are fully prepared for the next stage of their education and life in modern Britain.
