The Learning Bubble

Each child has access to their own learning space and class community page along with a range of exciting learning resources. To access these resources as well as other useful things, children need to log into our 'Learning Bubble'. To do this they need to click the 'log in' button on the bottom right of this screen or click the image underneath where it says 'Log into our Learning Bubble. Every child has a username and password. This should be in their homework diary or reading record book. If your child can not find their log in details please speak to Mrs MacDonald.

Coming into School

The children come into school independently from 8.45am, all children must be in class by 8.50 for registration at 9 o’clock.

Snacks and Drinks

We have children this year with serious nut allergies. It is vital that nuts must not be brought into school. Snacks and drinks must be named and placed in the appropriate boxes by the children so they know what their snack is. Please do not leave it in their lunch box as they get confused. We have a Healthy Schools Award so please do not bring chocolate or sweets. (Only one snack is necessary.) There is fresh fruit available which we eat in an afternoon.

Water bottles

These are provided by the school and should be taken home daily, washed and filled with fresh water. Please could we stress that only water goes in these bottles. If you lose it, replacements can be purchased from the office for approximately £1.

Please tell your child each day whether they are on school dinners or packed lunches so we can fill the register in correctly. If they choose packed lunches please remember no nuts.  Also, put a separate juice bottle in the packed lunch box, because water bottles go outside on the trolleys.

P.E. Kit

P.E. kits should be brought in and kept in school.  They will be sent home half-termly to be washed and checked.  Our PE days are Mondays.  No ear-rings are to be worn on PE days.  After October half-term, your child will need an Outdoor PE kit, (plain black track suit and trainers.)

Reading Folders

Once parents have attended the reading meeting, (see later notes)

reading folders should be brought to school every day. Inside should be their reading book and reading record book. After the Reading Meeting your child will also be bringing home a Letters and Sounds book, keywords folder and later in the year, a spelling book, which should also be kept in their reading folder.

We use the outdoor environment whatever the weather!! Please send a named pair of Wellies in with your child as soon as you can!

Our Class Golden Rules

Golden Rules

You will soon be hearing about our Golden Rules, if you haven’t already! These are class rules that we make to help keep us safe and happy in school. We have a whole school house points system to help us follow the rules and prizes are awarded for children following them. Have a read through and see if you can help your child to learn and follow them.

We will keep our hands and feet to ourselves.

We will be kind to each other.

We will look after the things we use.

We will line up smartly.

We will listen carefully.

We will always try our best with our work.

We will tidy up quickly and quietly.

We will walk around school.

We will put our hand up to speak on the carpet.

Celebration Assemblies

These assemblies are for parents, grandparents and carers to see the work we have done in school. They are held every other Friday, in the hall at 2.40 pm. FS and KS1 are once week and KS2 the next. Please come if you are free.  If your child is showing work we will notify you the week beforehand to let you know.

In the morning our priority is to ensure a successful start to the day for all our children. We are so pleased with the way they have come in independently. Thank you for letting them put their own water bottle on the trolley and named snack and drink in the snack boxes, so that they know what snack they have. It makes snack time easy and pleasurable. If you wish to discuss any aspect of your child’s learning or any concerns please do not hesitate to speak to us at the end of the academic day. For urgent matters please come into school before the day commences at 8.35 am (except Friday mornings when all staff have a meeting) or ring school to make an appointment.

We set up the outdoors ready for the children to use in school. Please do not let your child play on the grass or with equipment before and after school.

These are the people who work with us in Reception.

Mrs. MacDonald teaches in Class 1, Mrs. Robinson teaches in Class 2 and we are lucky enough to have 4 teaching assistants: Mrs. Gemmell, Mrs. Erlam,  Mrs. Holley and Miss. Yemm.

Your children look so smart in their school uniforms and we would hate you to lose any items. Please make sure that all school uniform is labelled with permanent marker or labels and check regularly that they are still legible (even shoes and coats!) Thank you.

EARLY Years Curriculum and also Expectations in Year 1 to Year 6

The documents below will give you some information relating to what children are expected to know by the end of each year group. The EYFS tracker will be most important to you at this stage. It will be used to assess your child throughout his/her time in our Reception class. By the end of the year we are aiming to help your child meet the 'Early Learning Goals' in each of the different areas of learning.
