    End of the week Ping
Dear Parents / Carers, Our first full week has been a success. Our new EYFS children had their first school meals today and yesterday! That was fun! There is a lovely atmosphere around school with new children and members of staff settling back into life Lockies. Have a look at our Twitter Page (X Page!) to see a snippet of what has been going on at school - https://twitter.com/LockiesCPS There are a few reminders / announcements for our parents and carers. We hope they are useful: - Diary Dates have been reattached. We will send out further information for some of the key events closer to the time. - After School Clubs will start next week, all children have been allocated a place on the clubs. Clubs will run up to the end of half term, Friday 27th October (please ensure you pay on ParentPay if you have signed up for Freedom Football) - Due to supply issues, there is a slight change to the school meals menu for Monday, the choice will be Pizza not Sausage rolls. - The Crisis CAMHS Team have expressed concerns around children accessing an app called ‘Quora’. This is reported to be a site that gives tips, and encouragement to children in taking their own life. We urge all parents who have children with access to apps to regularly monitor the use of this app and if found, speak to your children. If you require some support, contact school. - Please see below a useful link about keeping your child at home due to illness: https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/ - We have attached some useful information regarding Boundaries around Gaming. - If your child would like a school snack / meal, we strongly advise that you add funds to your Parentpay account the evening before required, this will allow the system to update in time for break time. - Parking - we have received multiple complaints from residents who have been unhappy with how some of our families have been parking but also how some residents have been spoken to. We have been informed that the PCSO is going to be more visible around. Our School Council will also be working hard to support courteous and safe parking. We hope you can support this. Local Sports: Rugby: - Warrington Wolves are at home to Saints tonight (the last home game of the season) - 8pm kick off Football: In the FA Cup: - Warrington Rylands FC are away to FC United of Manchester - Saturday 3pm - Warrington Town FC are at home to Curzon Ashton FC - Saturday - 3pm - Chorley FC are away to Runcorn Linnets FC - Saturday 3pm Other events: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/d/united-kingdom--warrington/events/ We hope you have a lovely weekend.

    Parking
Dear Parents / Carers, We have again been contacted by many local residents and parents recently regarding the parking around school before and at the end of the school day. Especially around Strawberry Close. We understand the difficulties with parking in the morning and after school however, please can we ask that you are considerate of the local area, including residential parking. This is a common theme around most primary schools but does impact our school due to the number of children we have attending. Our School Council feel strongly about this and will be working together with local residents and parents in an attempt to improve this situation for all of our community. They have some lovely ideas we will begin to share with everyone soon. We have been made aware that the local PCSO / Police will be monitoring this situation closely over the coming weeks and also working with our School Council to discuss some of the children’s ideas. Thank you for your support. Mr Vermiglio and The School Council

Phonics and Early Reading at Locking Stumps
Dear Parents and Carers, We are very excited to launch our Phonics and Early reading scheme, Little Wandle, across school. We are looking forward to sharing more information about this programme with you at our reading meeting and workshop over the next few weeks (These are for EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 only). We have previously sent home paper invites for the EYFS workshop (which has now been moved to Monday 26th September at 9:00am in the school hall). The Year 1 and Year 2 workshop is on Wednesday 21st September at 5:00pm. You can register for this by clicking this link if you are yet to already do so: https://forms.gle/WqJYy693v7brtVdw6 Today children will be bringing home their reading books and reading planner. Further information regarding this can be found within the attached letter. Please note, children at Locking Stumps will no longer learn spellings for a spelling test. Children will be provided with spelling activities at school and at home. We will continue to assess children at different points of the year to check on their progress, but this will no longer take the form of a weekly spelling test. If you have any questions about phonics, spellings or homework etc, please speak to the class teacher – there is also some further information in the School Planner. Thank you for your support.

A warm welcome to the Locking Stumps Community Primary School website.

After spending four fantastic years as the Deputy Headteacher at Locking Stumps, I was appointed Headteacher from September 2017. From the moment I walked into this school, I knew it was a place that I wanted to be. I feel so proud and privileged to be the Headteacher and I am working tirelessly, with an amazing team, to ensure that our school is the best it can be for the children of Locking Stumps.

We have an extremely hardworking team of staff and governors – all of whom go ‘above and beyond’ for our children. We are all enormously proud of our school and of the fantastic relationships we have with each other, the children and the families of our community.

Our school aims are rooted in the celebration of the achievements and talents of all of our children whilst striving for the highest of standards in everything that we do. Engrained within our core values is the belief that our children should be well mannered, proud and aspirational.
